The European University Institute’s Migration Working Group will host a seminar series in 2019-2020 in order to foster exchange on the latest, cutting-edge migration research. In addition to established scholars, we want to give especially early career scholars and PhD Students the opportunity to present their research.
Papers that explore non-European issues and contributions that discuss underexplored issues in migration research, but also papers focusing on aspects of race and/or gender in relation to mobility and migration, are particularly welcome.
Topics discussed in the seminar series should overlap with the Migration Policy Centre (MPC)’s research foci, which are:
- Public attitudes to migration and migration policies
- Labour markets, welfare states, and migration policies
- Migration, foreign aid, and development
- Migration governance (including migration narratives)
- Border enforcement, migration controls, and mobility practices
- Linking research, debates, and policies
You are invited to submit paper abstracts (max 500 words) by 1 September 2019. Please include your contact details affiliation and biographical note. Please submit the paper abstracts by filling in the application form.
The exact focus of each seminar will be defined on the basis of the paper proposals received and those eventually selected for presentation. Both empirical and theoretical contributions are welcome. High quality papers presented at the MWG will be invited for publication as Working Papers in the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies/MPC series.
Please note that the Migration Policy Centre will not be able to cover any travel expenses for external participants.
